Welcome Back Scouts!!

I would like to announce Andy Trumbo as our new Cubmaster for Pack196 for the 2016-2017 school year. Andy along with co-leader Pete Jackson led the Tiger Den throughout the 2015-2016 school year and both did a incredible jobs as did the rest of our amazing Den Leaders.  I will be stepping down as Cubmaster due to work travel constraints and wanted to thank everyone for their best wishes.  I had so much fun working with all of the scouts for the past 3 years while watching you guys grow and mature.  I will stay in close touch with the scouting program and may pop in on one of your den meetings to check your progress.

Best Regards,
Koby Duckworth

Welcome back to school and welcome back to scouts. We have a fun and exciting year planned. Our first pack meeting will be September 16th at the Mabel Rush Cafeteria. We will have the Reptile Man make an appearance and show off his collection of snakes and lizards and whatever other cool things he brings along.

This is a fun even and we encourage everyone to bring your entire family. Also bring a friend!! Having your friends involved with you in scouting is the best way to build up our pack and makes scouting more fun!

Attached is the updated calender for the upcoming year. Also please subscribe to the google calendar calendar.cubscoutpack196.org for any updates and the latest info.

2012 Annual Wreath Sales Begin Now!

posted Nov 10, 2012, 7:29 PM by Travis Davidson   [ updated Nov 10, 2012, 7:46 PM ]

Check out the attached PDF for pricing information.

2011 Wreath SalesOrders and Payments will be due at November Parent / Committee Meeting on November 28th

Wreaths will be ready for pick up on Saturday December 1st.

Families will pick up all the wreaths they've sold and be able to deliver them that weekend. Lets have a great Wreath Sale this year and be able to do amazing things with and for our Scouts!!

Our Pack has three (3) major fundraisers throughout the year that provide the funding we need to cover our expenses for the year. There are many expenses associated with the Pack. They range from purchasing the awards and recognition for our boys, to funding big activities like Pack Meeting Entertainment, the Pinewood Derby, Christmas Party, and the Blue and Gold Celebration. As an example, the awards purchased for a single pack meeting can often total $150 or more.

It is our hope that our fundraisers will enable us to continue a new tradition of having at least half of proceeds from our three major fund raisers go directly to individual scout accounts. Those accounts can be used to purchase scouting items such as scout books and uniforms/clothing, pay for special scouting activities (like sporting events and the Family Fun Center), as well as pay for camp costs.
Please find the order forms and information about the wreath inside your scout folders. They are made with greenery from the northwest and are locally produced right here in the Portland area.

Sell wreaths to family members, friends, coworkers, educators, church members, and more. You may even know a business who might be interested in purchasing in bulk for either their employees or clients! (If you found a buyer like that we'd be able to offer a price break.)

The school year is fast approaching, and so is our new year of scouting. We had a great turn out this year at summer camp, and we are ready to get back into the swing of the new year!

Our first Pack meeting will be Tuesday September 18th at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. We will have JuggleMania as our special guest performer, and it should be a really great show! Please tell all of your friends to come and check it out.

We will have a recruiting booth at the Mabel Rush Open House on Thursday September 6th.  If anyone would like more information about scouting or our pack please stop by and say hi. For some of you veterans, please come and help out in the booth.

The first parent meeting will be held Wednesday August 29th at the Coffee Cottage Conference Room from 7 -8:30pm.

Attached is the updated 2012-2013 Pack Calendar as well as an Introduction to our Pack brochure. The calendar is also updated on the website as a google calendar.  You can all subscribe to it to take along with you.

I look forward to seeing you all back and welcoming all the new scouts this year!!

Summer Camp Info

posted Mar 19, 2012, 9:39 PM by Travis Davidson

Summer camp is right around the corner and it is time now to collect the deposit for the campers. We have the dates secured for 3 camps this summer and it is not to late to get the kids involved. We are however in need of collecting a deposit for each scout that plans on attending the camp. I will have a sign-up sheet and be collecting the $60 deposit for the campers at the March Pack meeting and Markch Parent Meeting(checks payable to Pack 196). We encourage everyone to try to attend the summer camps as they are a great way to get the full scout expereince.

The final payment will be due at the May pack meeting. Having this payment in at this date qulifies the scouts to recieve a free camp t-shirt.

At the pack meeting we will have more information about each individual scout accounts and remember to sell your camp cards to help finance this excellent summer time activity.
